The Card Chain Challenge for September

Hello crafters...
I participate in the Card Chain Challenge and this is the reveal for September cards mailed out to the participant we were assigned.

I really had a hard time getting a good picture of this.
The flower collage is embossed in gold and then I used a few different shades of yellow and some green to color only the center part of the flower.
Then I used a deep purple pencil to color in the shading where the gold is. Purple gives water coloring that needed deep shade to bring it to life.  I just couldn't get that purple to show up at all.

The center of the flower is my go to right now... it is micro beads in black. I just love these and bought the only other shade available, which is a purplish color. I hope it works as well on other flowers. I haven't had a chance to use it yet.

I saw this on Pinterest and fell in love with it. So I had to try it.

The person I sent this card to was Linda Wetterlin.
Hope she likes it!!!

The October Rainbow Card Challenge

Hello there, welcome to my post for the October Rainbow Card Challenge!

As you can see, the monochromatic theme this month is slate gray. I had to really pick my brain about what to make. I don't make spooky cards unless they're really cute and I really do not have any stamps or dies for anything that I liked.

So I thought about city scapes, and that sounded pretty good, I even borrowed a die for that... but somehow I just wanted those two trees from Penny Black that I have owned for a long time. But I love them. They remind me of Fall or wintry days and the wind catching the leaves. I usually do these trees in colors, but this is monochromatic... so no colors!!! That's the beauty of participating in challenges. It can stretch us and get us out of our comfort zone to make something we might not do otherwise. I love that about challenges!!!

So on to my card.

I dry embossed  gray cardstock with a pretty folder I had and did some gray ink (London Fog) over the embossing to give it some depth and dimension.

Next, on watercolor paper I stamped the tree image in the same London Fog ink and adhered the black thin border to the image. I think these thin border dies are the best thing... I just love them!!!

Then... (of course) it lacked something... not sure what, but something!!! That's when you start going through your stamps, dies, and embellishments. It didn't take too long before I remembered this stamp set.
I have had for several years that I have not used a whole lot... but I had used these three birds before and really liked how they come out. The set includes several birds, and accessories such as hats, bows, ties, glasses, etc. great stamp set!!! As soon as I thought of them I knew they were it!!!. I stamped them on watercolor paper and used a few gray pencils to give them life and applied those adorable glasses, tried a hat... no that wasn't it. And ended up with a bow tie!!!

DONE!!!
Hope you enjoy my little story of creation.
I love to share it because I enjoy it so much to keep working it until you can say... voila!!! it's done!!!

Rainbow Card Challenge

 Hello card makers.

Welcome to my blog. I can't believe it's September already. And our color for this month is this gorgeous mix of amber!!! Beautiful for the Fall season, isn't it??? I am from Lithuania. We came to America when I was 10. The gem Amber is our national Gem. It comes from the Baltic sea, which borders our country and is easily found there. It actually is the sap that comes down from the trees into the water and forms this gem. That's why there are so many different colors, shades and little bits of "stuff" in the gem, as the sap drips and collects bits and pieces. Also, Amber is very soft and does not withstand a lot of abuse (like an opal). So it's not expensive like hard stones. It's used a lot in their paintings and crafts.

Now that I've given you your lesson for today. Let me show you the card that I made with this color.

I used Bristol paper, and stamped the background with Simon Says "Poppies Background" stamp with Versamark ink. I love, love that stamp. It is gorgeous!!! Then embossed it with Queen's Gold embossing powder.

From there, I wanted to use a new die I bought (Simon Says again), these delicate beautiful leaves called "Eucalyptus". I really had trouble with these. The gold glittery papers that I thought would work beautifully, did not. They were a thin layer of gold on shiny white and they separate. I had to glue them together while they twisted and turned in every direction... Maybe one of you reading this has a good gold paper that you like to use????

Anyway, then I cut the words from a normal gold paper and adhered the front to a kraft paper. I know it looks gray in here, but it's not, it's kraft. The glittery thin frame was cut from a different kind of paper, but it would not have worked for the leaves.

Oh, and I also make an envelope from papers that I have collected over the years. It feels so special when a person receives a card that is in a beautiful matching paper. If you don't do that, give it a try. Your lovely card deserves a great presentation!!!

So there you have it.
I really enjoyed making the card, but I spent a lot of time and frustration getting it together. Most cards come together in a day.... but then there's that one, that just won't let you off easily... Do you have those???

Please join us this month using this beautiful color.
Write me a comment and let me know how it goes...
